Barbecue tri-tip, hot dogs and numerous scrumptious side dishes
equalled a delicious meal to all who attended.
Highlights this year included music by the Teen Challenge Band, pastor charades, bingo, an M&M pick-up game and a raffle drawing.
Fun, food and fellowship - who can ask for anything more!!

Bowling Extravaganza
August 27, 2011

What a wonderful way to spend a Saturday afternoon!
We had a great turnout as 70+ church members and friends came to this event.
After bowling a grueling three games participants and non-participants ate to their heart's content as Gilroy Bowl cooked a wonderful buffet meal of edamame, sushi, pot stickers, tonkatsu, chicken teriyaki, tempura and ice cream for us. A raffle was held and many church members and friends left with extra goodies in their hands. A big "THANK YOU" to Grace and Tom Kawano for their graciousness in allowing us to use their facilities.

Shibukukai 2011
A Great Way to Begin a New Year!

It's good to gather around the table with our Church family and friends and our annual Shinbokukai celebration is always an exceptional Japanese treat that we look forward to every year. On Janurary 15th, 2011 the room was filled with cherry blossoms, rabbits, parasols, and lanterns as we ushered in the Year of the Rabbit, and the buffet table was filled with colorful, delicious dishes prepared by some of the best cooks in the county!!

Our Annual Harvest Dinner 2010
The Harvest Dinner on November 6th 2010 was pretty amazing! The gym was decorated to the hilt with all things Hawaiian, and many of the attendees, in keeping with the theme, wore Hawaiian attire. Several people indicated that the teriyaki chicken was the best ever (but that’s what they said last year!), and all the side dishes were abundant and very tasty as well. The Victor Ohana Hawaiian Band played during dinner, and at the end of the event, we were entertained and mesmerized by the Hawaiian Praise Team from Abundant Life Christian Church as they danced to some beautiful praise music, which included “The Lord’s Prayer”. It was good to see old friends and to make new ones, and thanks to their generosity, $830.00 was collected that was split between the two non-profits, Second Harvest Food Bank and the Hawaiian Praise Team. We give God thanks and glory for blessing us with so much, and we look forward to next year when we can do it all again. Aloha!

Tri-Church Picnic
A Huge Success and a Great Day for Fellowship!

It has been many years since El Estero in Monterey, Lincoln Avenue in Salinas, and Westview in Watsonville have gotten together for our tri-church picnic, but it was well worth the wait! Under beautiful warm skies on Saturday, October 2 2010, we gathered at Toro Park in Salinas for what was to be a well organized, entertaining, fun-filled day in the sun with scrumptious food to boot. There was something for everyone, and at the end, we left wanting more.
We started out with ice-breaker games and then moved on to Bingo. We sang songs and listened to a short message on “Fellowhship” by Elder Wayne Shen of Monterey. Then it was time to eat, and eat we did! Tri-tip, hot dogs, chili, and all the sides you could possibly imagine – yum! Throughout the meal we were entertained by magician Richard Myer as he moved from table to table showing off his magical card tricks! The “real” show began, and we laughed at his antics as he got the audience members to participate. At the end we wondered, “How did he do that”!” The picnic ended with a huge raffle with so many wonderful prizes.

A Very Busy December 2009 at Westview

December was a month full of activities for Westview.
Upper Left: The annual Christmas Appreciation Luncheon was held after worship service on December 6, 2009. This yearly event celebrates the season and says "thank you" to all of our Westview Family for their tireless dedication to the affairs of the Church. The Guiding Ministry made a delectable meal of salads, tri-tip, mashed potatoes, gravy with mushrooms, vegatables, rolls, rice, and velvet cake for dessert.
Upper Right: On December 12, 2009 a dozen Christmas carolers from Westview sang at four different locations in the Community - Country Villa, Valley Convalescent, Valley Haven, and Wesley House. Pastor Dan Hoffman's daughter, Rosie, and her friend Brianna delighted audiences as they sang special duets and passed out colorful prayer bears.
Bottom: On December 13, 2009 the Praise Team led Christmas carols at the JACL Senior Christmas Party.
